Nastic movement is responsible for blossoming of
flowers. Usually this movement takes place in a flat plant parts oriented
relative to the plant body and produced by the diffusion stimuli causing
disproportionate growth or increase turgor pressure in the tissue surface .It
normally occurs in leaves ad petals which are bilaterally symmetric.
Changes in the environment sends a signal to plant
and results in a differential growth between the upper and the lower surface of
the petal resulting in blossoming of the flower at different time of the day and under different condition. In
jasmine the response occur due to a stimulus caused by the change in brightness
and darkness. If there is more growth in the upper side of the petal then
flower opens and if the growth is on the lower side then the petals close.
